Ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome to the homepage of the County Court of Bersenbrück.

I am happy about your interest in our court and very strongly hope that you will find all information required on the following pages.

We have used our best endeavours to make available to you a maximum of useful information in order to enable you to easily get in contact with us and to find your way to our court without problems.

But at the same time, we also would like to offer you an opportunity to gain insights of our organisation and work and to get to know our court which is housed in a former cloistral building situated on a charming site.

Opening hours

The County Court is open to the public from Monday to Thursday from 09.00 a. m. to 12.30 a. m. and from 02.00 p. m. to 03.30 p. m. as well as Friday and before holidays from 09.00 a. m. to 12.30 a. m..

We thank you for your understanding that any appointments outside these opening hours will only be granted upon prior agreement, in order to ensure flow of work without any disturbances. Nevertheless, an appointment upon prior agreement would be more convenient in any case.

The opening hours of the court cashier are as follows: from Monday to Thursday from 09.00 a. m. to 12.30 a. m. as well as Friday and before holidays from 09.00 a. m. to 11.30 a. m..

How to find us

By public transport:

Take the NordWestBahn coming from the South from the main station Osnabrück and from the North from Wilhelmshaven via Oldenburg. It takes some 10 minutes by foot from the railway station Bersenbrück to the Stiftshof. Take the Bahnhofstraße up to the Bramscher Straße and then turn to your left in the direction “Stadtmitte” (centre) and then into the next street to your right, the Schulstraße. The Stiftshof with its county court building is situated at the end of the Schulstraße.

By car:

Coming from the North (from Cloppenburg) via the B68 until the exit Bersenbrück taking the street Ankumer Straße in the direction “Stadtmitte” (centre), turn to your right at the 3rd intersection controlled by traffic light to the Bramscher Straße in the direction Osnabrück, then turn to your left in the third street into the street “An der Bleiche”. The “Stiftshof” with its County Court is situated at the end of the street “An der Bleiche”. Furthermore, from the North taking the A1 highway (coming from Bremen) from the exit Holdorf via the B214 in the direction of Bersenbrück. There, take the Gehrder Straße until the intersection controlled by traffic light where you turn to your left, direction Osnabrück and take the Bramscher Straße as described hereinabove.

Coming from the South via the A1 highway (from Dortmund) from the exit Osnabrück-Nord via the B68 until the exit Bersenbrück taking the Ankumer Straße, direction “Stadtmitte” (centre) until the 3rd intersection controlled by traffic light. There, you turn to your right and then continue as described hereinabove.

Coming from the West (from Lingen) via the B214 and the Ankumer Straße until the 3rd intersection controlled by traffic light. There, you turn to your right and then continue as described hereinabove.

Coming from the East (from Diepholz) via the B214 and the Gehrder Straße until the intersection controlled by traffic light, there, you turn to your left and then continue as described hereinabove.

Parking facilities are available in front of the court building.

Information for witnesses

You have received summons of witness and shall have to deposit as a witness in a judicial procedure before the County Court of Bersenbrück.

As a witness, you might have some questions with respect to your rights and obligations

  • Do I have to appear before court?
  • Do I have to deposit before court?
  • Do I have to provide evidence if I cannot appear at the hearing?
  • Is my safety ensured before the court?
  • Shall I be indemnified for my expenditures and loss of salary?

Your questions might already be answered to your satisfaction in the notice attached to your summons of witness.

Judicial application section of the County Court of Bersenbrück.

The judicial application section (“Rechtsantragstelle”) is competent for receiving and recording any applications – and to a lesser extent – for legal remedies in civil and family matters.

However, the judicial application section cannot provide any legal advice, but it only assists with phrasing of explanatory statements of potential applications and legal remedies. Sound legal advice shall be given by qualified lawyers. Upon your request, the Oldenburg bar association will indicate lawyers specialised in specific matters.
